33 TOTAL SURVIVORS
31 Oct 03 Update - Two of the airframes that were on the AMARC list (59-0065 & 59-0095) have been removed from my Survivor list as I'm told they were moved from AMARC to the Gila Bend Bombing Range this fall (2003) and I no longer will count them as a Survivor, even though they actually still exist -- but for how long and in what shape is anybody's guess. Per a 31 Oct 03 e-mail from Pat Perry who has been monitoring these birds all summer, four or five more birds will be moved to the bombing range ( to be what is called a 'Range Duck' ) within the next two weeks. The unconfirmed tail numbers are 59-0012, 59-0115, 57-2510 & 57-2514. When I get word that a bird has become a 'Range Duck", I'll remove them from the SURVIVOR list and add them to the RANGE DUCKS list.
I'm told that two birds are RANGE DUCKS on the Barry Goldwater Bombing Range at Gila Bend AZ. Serial Numbers are: 59-0065 & 59-0095
RANGE DUCKS
19 Nov 03 Update - I'm told the following tail numbers are now gone from AMARC and are believed to be at Gila Bend. 59-0012, 59-0115, 57-2510 & 57-2514. These following aircraft are also gone and are believed to either be at Gila Bend or scrapped. 58-0903, 58-0904 & 59-0079. We are awaiting actual verification of these seven bird's final fate but for reasons unknown to me, the information seems to be hard to come by.
13 Dec 03 Update - The following seven tail numbers have been confirmed (along with PCN #s and departure dates) as being moved to Gila Bend in November of 2003. (1) 59-0065,  AAFN0003, 18 Nov 03 (2) 59-0147, AAFN0017, 05 Nov 03 (3) 59-0115, AAFN0004, 07 Nov 03 (4) 59-0012, AAFN0077, 03 Nov 03 (5) 58-0904, AAFN0044, 07 Nov 03 (6) 58-0903, AAFN0046, 10 Nov 03 (7) 57-2510, AAFN0048, 10 Nov 03. Now with this information, one has to question the where-abouts or final fate of: (1) 59-0095 (2) 59-0079 (3) 57-2514. We will attempt to resolve this last bit of conflicting information.
18 Dec 03 Update - Partial resolution: (1) 59-0095 - To DRMO 25 Sept 03. Was previously reported as going to Gila Bend but isn't on the list of seven birds that went to Gila Bend. ??? (2) 59-0079 is intact and still at AMARC (3) 57-2514 - unresolved - in research.
20 Dec 03 Update - More resolution: (1) 57-2514 is intact and still at AMARC. 57-2514 and 59-0079 are added back to the SURVIVOR List. Photos of all AMARC F-106s are being taken this week and will be published upon receipt and after I (Erv) return from vacation mid Jan 04. (2) Location or final fate of 59-0095 is still unresolved - in research.
14 Jan 04 Update - Final resolution: (1) 59-0095 was scrapped late last fall ~ Nov03
28 Jan 04 Update - On 21 Jan 04, the nose section of F-106B 59-0164 was removed and donated to the Southern Utah Air Museum (Washington UT) for cockpit restoration and display (See below 03 Nov 06 update)
